This neo-Georgian private residence built in 2004 required the construction of two elongated octagonal rooflights and a regular octagonal rooflight to admit light to the elliptical stairwell below. 
These photos show the detailed construction of the larger rooflights measuring some 18 feet by 12 feet. The main hardwood rafters were attached to a central boss and beveled to accommodate 
the 8 different planes of glass. Four aluminum opening vents were added to each rooflight, and after fixing the double-glazed roof units the external timber surfaces were covered with lead to 
ensure a low maintenance external structure was created.
